Bloom Festival, Ireland’s largest gardening, food and family fun event is ready once again to showcase the phenomenal home grown talent that Ireland has to offer. With breathtaking show gardens, delicious grub, music and interactive events, there truly is something for the entire family. With so much to see and do, we have broken down the festival into a nifty guide so that you know what to expect from Bloom Festival 2019!
Bloom’s Forest of Floral Fun
Take a stroll through Bloom’s magical show gardens. Created by Ireland’s top designers, these gardens are the creme de la creme of Bloom and showcase the very latest in garden design trends. The ‘Postcard Gardens’ are another must see, with creative 2M x 3M plots designed by the Bloom Garden Society members. Also make sure to check out the ‘Sculpture Gardens’ featuring work from Irish artists and the stunning ‘Victorian Walled Kitchen Gardens’. The ‘Floral Marquee’ is the place to be if you want to buy exquisite fresh flowers or visit the outdoor retail for all outdoor living products! If you’d like to see some floristry demonstrations, the ‘Floral Art Stage’ has you covered or, if you’d like expert advice and demonstrations on gardening, then head to the ‘Garden Expert Stage’.
Get a Taste of Ireland’s Best Food and Drink
Considering Bloom is run by Bord Bia, it is no accident that food is another major highlight of the Festival. We can’t wait to chill out at ‘BBQ Bliss at Bloom’ set up by Woodies DIY,  where you can enjoy steaks, burgers and Indian BBQ delicacies while also getting some expert BBQ tips and listening to a percussion band.There is a plethora of restaurants such as the Seafood Bar, the Garden Restaurant and the Country Crest Food Fayre plus outdoor caterers at the picnic area. You must stop by the ‘Food village’, where you can sample and buy a plethora of organic and artisan Irish produce. Want to meet and support the people behind some incredible Irish owned brands ? Head on over to the ‘Love Irish Food Pavilion’ where they will be showcasing their brands. After all that shopping , relax with a craft beer or cocktail in the Bloom Inn.
Buzz and Entertainment at Bloom
Bloom also has a large array of immersive events sure to keep you entertained including live cooking demonstrations from Ireland’s top chefs at the ‘Bord Bia quality kitchen stage’, fashion shows provided by Debenhams at the ‘Fashion Stage’ and  music,entertainment and live panels at the RTE set. Enjoy your delicious grub in the picnic area against the backdrop of the Music Stage, run in conjunction with Youbloom Dublin to showcase the best emerging artists in the Irish music scene. Get stuck in at the ‘Irish craft village at Bloom’ which features a variety of craft demonstrations and drop in workshops, where you have the opportunity to create things like your own clay pot, garden figures, printed bags and much more ! Then head to the retail area to discover bespoke homeware, fashion and jewellery items made and designed in Ireland.
What’s on for Kids at Bloom?
Not only is the entertainment for kids educational, it is also fun and engaging, so much so that we know that all the grown ups will enjoy it just as much! ‘Scientific Sue’ will host interactive scientific demonstrations and ‘Physics Busking’ will perform jaw dropping experiments. ‘Bloom Farmyard’ allows you to get up close and personal with chickens, cows, calves, sheep and lambs and ‘Margarets Fun on the Farm’ teaches you how eggs are made in the free range hen coop. ‘GIY at Bloom’ will show you how to grow your own fruit and vegetables at home and will host a panel discussing hot topics in the food industry. ‘Conservation at Bloom’ will teach children ( and adults) the grave importance of looking after mother earth and what we can do to help our planet. You can also learn how to make your very own fairy garden and toddlers can enjoy music and social play at ‘Clap Handies’. Did we mention that under 16’s go for free?Amazing, right?
